But your picking it from the inside! The slope latch is facing you. All this is good for is deducing the key cuts for a replacement key. And thats only good if your trapped in the safe, with ligh,t and your trusty pick set. or have a open safe/door without a key.

I realized that after posting. When I first saw this lock it was on a Russian website, I learned later it is Italian.

You don't often find mortise locks in safe work. well never really. Another clue that this is a lock for a door in a passageway is the bevel latch and the hub for a knob spindle. Beautiful (11 lever?) lock with a combination-changable bit key

It looks like a mortise lock for a high security door. The type installed in the Pentagon and other government facilities requiring the highest level of security. Probably goes to a door weighing close to half a ton.
