Ouch! This is painful to watch, but it just goes to show, that under pressure, even easy locks can fight back ??? ? Still, if you pick locks, you have to expect to be humbled from time to time! ??

That one is likely from the 70s. The keys have the modern style and the really old model 77 locks have a key with a more stylized word "Master" on them. The opening to the keyway on the older ones doesn't have the raised ring around like the modern ones. And the biggest indicator is the UPC barcode on the back. Checkout scanners and barcodes didn't come into use until the 70s.

I bought one of these from a locksmith a couple months ago, I noticed one of the keys opens the lock when rotated either clockwise or counterclockwise, and the other key only opens it if turned counterclockwise. When I was picking the lock, I was never able to open it tensioning it clockwise, but I got it a few times tensioning counterclockwise. Interesting lock to say the least

uh.... I hate to say it, but.... to me, 'vintage' is something older than 1996. The plastic gives it away that its a later reproduction.

It would be nice if Master would bring back their old logo on newer locks; love the way it looks.<br>(that and adding another pin chamber, using higher tolerances, better bitting, security pins, etc.)

Can&#39;t believe you have that lock in the original package -- and to boot with the older &quot;Master Lion Logo&quot;, maybe made in about the 1940&#39;s, well maybe up to the 1980&#39;s (as it does have later &quot;non Logo&quot; key) -- amazing -- I have quite a few of these and they WERE quit common here in the US -- popular price = less expensive than the #3 -- out of production for many, many years. Cadmium plating; well all Master Locks used to be Cadmium plated for years and years, &amp; I have handled 100&#39;s of them 1,000&#39;s of times, with no known ill effects -- therefore &quot;hogwash&quot; to poisoning from handling Cadmium plated items. PS: The Cadmium plating will tarnish with handling so wipe it down before putting back in package

Somehow it seems irresponsible to open that packaging. And you&#39;ve picked up some Cadmium contamination as a penalty! Thanks for the video, Ash.

Oh my I&#39;ve got a new hobby. I watched your videos and thought that looks fun. So I ordered a cheap set of picks. They arrived today along with a see through lock. And when I picked that lock for the first time I got a thrill it&#39;s amazing. I&#39;m gonna take an online locksmith course with Penn foster online school. I just wanted to say thanks lock noob you are very inspiring. I&#39;m 55 years old and I think I&#39;m gonna like this hobby. Your a very good teacher also.

I don&#39;t think i would have taken this beautiful lock out of it&#39;s old package , i know you can still but Master #77 ( new ) but in a box and not in a packet like yours ,
